Travis Perkins Group have chosen Allpack to supply all of their consumable packaging for their 19 businesses in the UK.
The 4 year contract, worth £12m, which includes Wickes DIY retail chain, City Plumbing, BSS, PTS and others, involves supplying around 2000 delivery points nationally, on a daily basis. This is achieved by providing a consignment stock service for Wickes to their ecommerce, store distribution, and home delivery divisions.
All TP branches order individually, around 800 branches, and the products include pallethoods, plasterboard covers, stretch film, and strapping.
On the company's decision to choose Allpack as their provider of consumable packaging, Travis Perkins procurement manager Phil Corbett commented: "One of the key enablers for Travis Perkins was the ability to service our widespread local branch network of over 1,000 locations as efficiently and with the same economies of scale as our large distribution sites. Each of our branches are mini distribution centres in their own right, with varying needs and requirements. Allpack’s product range, ordering platform and reliable next day delivery enabled us to roll out a widespread multi-site solution with confidence, and our entire business benefiting from the group’s combined leverage in rates and service.
"The Allpack price commitment really helped to win over local branch managers who may have tried to source more locally on ad-hoc rates, ensuring that we were able to uphold our waste packaging statutory reporting obligations with ease.
"At the distribution centre level, the consignment stock facility made good use of warehouse space while improving cash flow, as we only paid for what we used. Allpack continually delivers innovation and improvements, both in waste packaging and efficiencies in use of packing space, materials and security of product."
