A well-known builders' merchant chose Allpack to supply all of their consumable packaging for their business units throughout the UK.
The Challenge:
The national builders merchant contract, worth £12m over 4 years, involved supplying around 2,000 delivery points daily, nationally. The business units order individually, circa 1,000 branches, with products including pallet hoods, plasterboard covers, stretch film, and strapping requirements.
Solution:
On the company's decision to choose Allpack as their provider of consumable packaging, the builder's merchant procurement manager explained: "One of the key enablers for us was the ability to service our widespread local branch network of over 1,000 locations as efficiently and with the same economies of scale as our large distribution sites. Results:
The result was a consignment stock service for their ecommerce, store distribution, and home delivery divisions. At the distribution centre level, the consignment stock facility made good use of warehouse space while improving cash flow, as the branches only paid for what was used.
Conclusion
The Allpack price commitment and next-day service levels, with a 7pm order cut off time for next day delivery in our fleet area, helped to win over local branch managers who may have tried to source more locally on ad-hoc rates.
