Company Profile:
Allpack were contacted by a well-known DIY household name who were looking to upgrade its pack station layout to maximise its online order fulfillment requirements, which would increase its ecommerce throughput capacity.
The Challenge:
The challenge was to evaluate the existing packing process, the materials being used, and the packing area used within the warehouse setup, including power and floor placement layouts, that would allow us to encourage a design that would meet and surpass all aspects of the brief.
Solution:
After onsite consultations and meetings with the ecommerce team, the information obtained was fed back into the audit, which was then analysed to enhance the existing packing process, with a new pack station design that incorporated industry-leading equipment that would help facilitate increased throughput and material storage, which would minimise costly replenishment downtimes.
Implementation:
Having received approval on design proposals to meet the key system criteria, Allpack assembled inhouse engineers to install the system components in accordance with the brief and integrate the bespoke process accelerators.
Results:
The result was a bespoke solution of 24 pack benches, comprised of material storage units, waste disposal points, a conveyor with integrated hoppers, void fill and an ANDON lights system to simplify problem-solving and reduce material replenishment times for each station operative.
Conclusion
The retailer reported a marked improvement in overall system efficiency, citing a reduction in order fulfilment times, ensuring a seamless transition between systems and enhanced process flow, readying the operation for continued growth in the long-term.
